Fall in the Tobacco Valley is marked by the Larch and Aspen trees turning the mountains yellow, the cool nights, and frosty mornings with ducks flying out of the misty rivers and lakes.

When the leaves begin to fall and the nights become cooler is when the elk begin to bugle.  You can go to one of the many elk ranches located just minutes away from the Montana Lake Getaway and listen to the beautiful sound that comes from these huge animals.  Or for the more adventurous people you can venture into the outback of the Kootenai National Forest and try your luck at hearing the Elk bugle in there natural environment.
